Welcome to my little corner of the world
I’ve always been a sucker for the finer details- colors, textures, patterns. (I am an OG power clasher!) And when I started noticing the abundance of these things in our natural world, I became obsessive. It started with mushrooms in the backyard. Then bugs. Then bark. Then lichen. Lichen. Lichen. Always with the lichen! What started as an annoying-but-lovable quirk during hikes quickly transformed into a full-blown passion. My ever-patient spouse noticed my love for observation and purchased me my first camera. I quickly upgraded to a proper camera with a dedicated macro lens and have spent the past several years refining my skills and style.
With a background in Design and Psychology, I’ve spent the past decade working in User Experience (UX) as both a Designer and a Researcher. I grew up in Atlanta and have lived in Asheville, NC and Chicago. I always knew that I wanted to end up back in North Carolina, so am beyond grateful that I now get to call Durham, NC home. Durham is not only my home but also my inspiration. With its abundance of natural spaces, I am endlessly excited to explore and see what treasures I can find. Most of my work is done in the area, particularly in the beautiful Eno River State Park and Duke Gardens.
When not photographing grass, I also enjoy painting and collaging. Especially collaging! All of my creative forms are very much nature-inspired. Non-art interests include reading, playing games, listening to music, and serving up tasty beverages at my friends’ local bottleshop and taproom.
I am the proud mother of two littles, Cosmo and Zella. They are my raison d'etre. I have one amazing husband, who I am lucky to say supports me in all of my endeavors.
